Still one of the most baffling additions to the Xbox platforms remains to be Sega’s & Team Sonic’s Phantasy Star Online 2. Although the game is a predominantly Japanese-centric title with a helping of enthusiasm for the series in the west, the game remained a unique release in the home region since releasing in 2012. But when the game arrived to North America, it only shipped for Xbox One and Windows 10 at the time.

Of course, that later changed with the additions of both Steam and the more recent Epic Game Store version in February, it is a matter of time before more systems welcome the game. Additionally, Sega introduced expansion Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis. The add-on stands to be a reworking of the game with a new experience included.

This week during the Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis Prologue 3 livestream, Sega reveals that the DLC for the online-only title is to arrive globally this June. You can watch the segment of the livestream in the video below:

As you might guess since the game arrived with its global release nearly a decade later, the version western players are familiar is dated compared to the iteration over in Japan. However, Sega does reassure both versions will be virtually identical come the update in June. But, the team does clarify that there will still be some region locked content in Japan based to regulation in under different governments.

Ahead of the launch for Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, Sega shares there will be a ‘Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis Character Creator’ that will release on Windows. The new tool will enable players to customize their current character for the new expansion when it arrives later on.
