TT Games, a label under Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment, acquired the mobile games development firm Playdemic. Playdemic, the team behind mobile games such as Gang Nations, Golf Clash, and Village Life, will be joining TT Games to continue development of various Lego games, with a focus on mobile.
According to a quote from gamesindustry.biz, TT Games’ managing director Tom Stone said they “couldn’t be happier to bring on board such a talented and capable team.” Stone also noted that “Playdemic brings a unique set of skills to complement our existing studios, and a tremendous track record on mobile.” Playdemic’s entire portfolio of games has been downloaded over 50 million times collectively and brought in over $50 million in revenue according to gamesindustry.biz.
While Lego games have historically had a focus on the console and PC market, Stone notes that Playdemic’s acquisition will “enable us to take advantage of exciting new opportunities to build new kinds of socially connected Lego games.” While mobile gaming is populated by giants like King’s Candy Crush, it’ll be great to have new Lego titles to carry in our pockets for the bus ride to work.
