Yet another ambitious reveal at this past State of Play live presentation showcases Illfonic’s Predator: Hunting Grounds. The teaser only about a minute long of pre-rendered soldiers finding their way through a jungle until the iconic Predator from the titular film appears in the frame with its camouflage hiding the alien hunter’s appearance.

For how the game primarily will be played out was not detailed in the trailer, but looking at what the teaser implied will be similar to how Dead by Daylight or Friday The 13th: The Game functions as one alpha ‘predator’ overshadows and huts the weaker herd of players.

Illfonic shares in the announcement post the main concept for how the game will playout:

One group of players will control members of an elite Fireteam who pack state-of-the-art conventional firepower, from shotguns and SMGs to sniper rifles and more. Meanwhile, one player will control the Predator: a stealthy, acrobatic killing machine bristling with exotic alien technology such as the infamous Plasmacaster. As the Fireteam attempt to carry out paramilitary missions – annihilating bad guys and recovering important items – the Predator will be closing in, using its advanced vision mode to track and ambush its prey.

The reason for using the ambitious at the start of this piece is seeing that the studio is sticking to one franchise for the entirety of the title. Though this is exciting, there is the worry of how the title will roll out based on the license. Seeing how Gun Media’s title ended as the license for Jason interfered with bring additional content to the online-only game, I hope the same won’t plague Illfonic’s upcoming project.

Predator: Hunting Grounds is set to release sometime in 2020 for PlayStation 4.
