Although Xbox Game Studios is preparing the release of Forza Horizon 5 later this November, PlayStation Studios is currently situating Gran Turismo 7 elsewhere. In that, the game since its announcement remains fairly dormant in terms of new information. Namely, details on the release date continues to scatter through a YouTube advertisement previously.

Later on, Sony Interactive Entertainment directly acknowledged the concern. However, instead of a sooner release date, it was quickly told to be releasing for a new timeframe slated in 2022. But, information did come in a periodic manner. Through a separate statement from the publisher, Gran Turismo 7 will instead be a cross-generation release on both PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5 now.

From the Thursday PlayStation 5 Showcase, Polyphony Digital revealed a new trailer and March release date for Gran Turismo 7. You can watch the trailer in the video below:

“The cultural environment surrounding cars has changed greatly in the past 25 years. Those of us who were born in the rich car culture of the times created the first Gran Turismo game, so it may be difficult for the current generation of automotive purists to be in the same type of cultural environment as ourselves back then.  The objective for GT7 in current culture today, is to design a game to convey everything from the last 150 years of car and racing culture, whether you are a lifelong fan or discovering cars for the first time.”

Polyphony Digital President & Gran Turismo Creator Kazunori Yamauchi continues by sharing, “GT7 is both the culmination of the series which answers the expectations of GT fans throughout the years, and at the same time it is a title that marks a beginning of a difficult mission to contain the full breadth of car culture from the past into a single video game.”

In addition to Gran Turismo 7 receive screen time in preparation for its spring release next year, another cross-generation release also got some airtime. Closing the PlayStation 5 Showcase was God of War: Ragnarok with an in-depth gameplay trailer. You can read the full report by heading here.

Are you itching to get Gran Turismo 7 next year?
