During Microsoft’s court case against the Federal Trade Commission, Jim Ryan called out Xbox Game Pass in a pre-recorded video deposition. saying that all publishing dislike the subscription service.

Here is what Ryan said:

“I talked to all the publishers, and they unanimously do not like Game Pass because it is value destructive,”

He also says that Microsoft doesn’t gain profit from the service either.

“The Game Pass business model appears to have some challenges, and Microsoft appears to be losing a lot of money on it,”

It seems that most publishers do like the Xbox Game Pass platform as more games continue to join the subscription service. Phil Spencer has stated Xbox Game Pass is profitable as the subscription numbers begin to level with price increases.

In the latest FTC vs Microsoft hearings, it was revealed that Microsoft considered buying Bungie and Sega to bolster their Xbox Game Pass lineup.

Do you agree with Jim Ryan’s comments?
