Sony has announced that Hermen Hulst and Hideaki Nishino are the new CEOs of Sony Interactive Entertainment. This comes over a month after Jim Ryan officially stepped down as the CEO in March. This also comes with the announcement of Studio Business Group which Hulst will lead.

The Studio Business Group, headed by Hermen Hulst, oversees the development of PlayStation’s first-party teams and the adaptation of PlayStation IP for film and TV. Hulst’s previous experience within Sony includes co-founding Guerrilla Games, which created the acclaimed Horizon franchise for PlayStation.

Hideaki Nishino has been appointed to lead the Platform Business Group, which will focus on console hardware, technology, accessories, PlayStation Network, and third-party relationships.

Here is what Nishino had to say about this promotion:

“We will continue to connect players and creators through world-class products, services, and technology,” Nishino said. “We always strive to grow our community even bigger with innovation in every area at Sony Interactive Entertainment.”

“I am honored to be appointed such an important role alongside Hermen. By working more closely together, we will be positioned to build incredible experiences for an ever-expanding audience now and in the future.”

Hiroki Totoki, who was the interim CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment will remain the president, COO, and CFO of Sony Group Corporation. The newly named PlayStation leaders will report to Totoki when they start on June 1, 2024.
