In terms of how often Nintendo delivers a special edition Nintendo Switch is not a very often encounter. Namely, the firm will ship an entire edition model say once a year- two potentially since launch. With an assortment of controllers from Nintendo directly, the lineup is fairly skewed in terms of varying models. But, they are adding up.

For 2021 alone, fans were already welcomed to the Monster Hunter Rise Nintendo Switch Bundle back in March of this year. However, Nintendo also introduced a separate edition just a month prior to that. During the rise of celebrating Super Mario’s 35th anniversary, Nintendo unveiled a ‘Red & Blue Edition’ Nintendo Switch to complement the appearance of the iconic character.

Now in a new announcement during Wednesday’s Pokémon Presents, The Pokémon Company unveiled a new Nintendo Switch Lite edition for the upcoming release of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl. You can view an image of the packaging below:

“A special edition Nintendo Switch Lite Dialga & Palkia Edition will also be released to celebrate the launch of these games,” Takato Utsunomiya, The Pokémon Company COO shared. “This special Nintendo Switch Lite is dressed up with art of the Legendary Pokémon Dialga & Palkia, bringing to mind the special Nintendo DS Lite Onyx Dialga & Palkia Edition that was released back in 2006 to align with the original game’s launch.”

As of the price for the new special edition, Nintendo nor The Pokémon Company disclosed how much the device will go for. But, it is presumed the special edition will be priced at $199.99 similar to regular Nintendo Switch Lite models since it releases ahead of both Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl this November.

This is not the first instance that both Nintendo & The Pokémon Company shipped a special edition Nintendo Switch Lite model. Previously, the two partnered to ship a special edition for Pokémon Sword & Pokémon Shield back in 2019 for the game’s release at the time.
