While the Pokémon franchise continues to branch in new directions, the most ambitious is the coming release that is Pokémon Unite. Announced last year, the game stands to be a new MOBA release that takes place in The Pokémon Company universe. Combining cooperative team play with abilities and powers of Pokémon brings a new experience to Nintendo Switch and mobile devices in the approaching months.

Previously, The Pokémon Company shared that the game is planned to release in two intervals: first with Nintendo Switch followed by mobile support later on. At the time, the release windows said July for the Nintendo handheld console hybrid while Android & iOS expect the game to launch sometime later on in September. Cross-platform play and cross-progression are said to be supported when all versions are out.

Now, The Pokémon Company has officially launched Pokémon Unite. The firm last week announced that the game will arrive on July 21st and players that log in before September can expect to pick up an exclusive in-game reward for doing so.

“Add some thunder to your battles by logging in to Pokémon UNITE on Nintendo Switch by August 31, 2021, to receive Zeraora’s Unite license,” the announcement read then. “This Electric-type Mythical Pokémon is fast as lightning, catching opponents and dealing massive damage in the blink of an eye. Zeraora’s Unite Move sends out a powerful electric blast, creating a zone of plasma around its strike zone.”

In a separate post on launch day, The Pokémon Company expands on the battle pass for the game. “By battling during the first season of Pokémon UNITE, you’ll find essential items that will help you achieve success in future battles. Battling frequently also raises your battle pass level, which is another way to obtain new items. And when you upgrade your battle pass, you receive additional rewards like rare Holowear.”
