Came the release for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners in 2022, the collaborative project with CD Projekt Red & Studio Trigger, fans new & old were gravitating to the limited-series anime on Netflix. However, there was a caveat to the hunger for more in this universe: there were no plans for a follow-up. Producer Satoru Honma explained that the story met its ultimate conclusion by the climax in Edgerunners.
That is not to say no more Cyberpunk 2077 content is coming though. Previously, CD Projekt Red did reveal that a new live-action effort in partnership with Anonymous Content is in production currently, Additionally, Netflix revealed that a new animated project with Cyberpunk 2077 is also being pieced together as well. Although, it is unclear if it is a new concept or a return for Studio Trigger.
Recently, CD Projekt Red has revealed that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is receiving newly deserved attention. Firstly, there is a new prequel manga run ‘Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Madness’ which its first issue is already available. Formats in Japanese, Polish, Spanish, Italian, German, French, and Traditional Chinese are confirmed with even English being printed by Dark Horse Comics.
“The anime’s first-ever manga adaptation, titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, follows the chaotic lives of two characters who viewers were first introduced to in the anime: siblings Rebecca and Pilar, who quickly became fan favorites. Before they joined David’s crew, the pair grew up wreaking havoc in their path to become legendary edgerunners like their father — but when the mysterious Safran interrupts their daily routine in Night City, he changes their future,” the description reveals.
What’s more, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is to also receive its own physical Blu-Ray release as well. CD Projekt Red confirmed that plans to roll out in regions is set for next year. “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will also receive a Blu-ray edition, arriving in 2025 to the following territories: Japan, USA, Canada, Latin America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Thailand. Discover the standalone, ten-episode story of street kid David Martinez trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future — soon available in a physical format!”
