It surely was a surprise how popular the recently debuting The Witcher Netflix series came to be since its debut back in fall 2019. Even so, the release of the first season also drove for more numbers and active players on the inspired game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, as peak concurrent players on Steam exceed the metrics from the game’s initial launch back in 2015.

And not too long after leading into 2020, starring actor Henry Cavill who plays the series’ protagonist Geralt of Rivia shared in a video on Instagram that pre-production for the already anticipated second season is set to commence “very shortly.” Now leading into March already, it is expected that pre-production is already running its course near the commencement for production and begin filming for the next season.

However, according to a new report on Deadline, it is shared by an unnamed source working on the project that production has been postponed for the next two weeks due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

We have made the decision, effective immediately, to pause production for two weeks during this difficult time… this will allow everyone the time to make informed decisions about how to move forward.

The report despite disappointing to avid fans does not come as a surprise as multiple projects globally have been halted for the time being due to the novel virus. Especially with an immense concern gripped around Europe on the matter currently, it is expected that companies would take these precautions as the situation continues to develop. “The coronavirus has raised challenging issues for everyone working on set on productions for Netflix. We are very grateful for all the work everyone has done to keep cast and crew safe during this pandemic,” the source went on to share.

In other Witcher-related news to brighten this dull piece of information, CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kiciński shared that the next project following this September’s-scheduled Cyberpunk 2077 will be a new Witcher project. On what the game will be exactly, Kiciński did emphasize that whatever it is, it is not a direct installment for the series. You can head here to read the full report.

Will you be able to wait a little but longer for Season 2 for Netflix’s The Witcher due to the growing COVID-19 pandemic?
