At the start of April, the major global topic was the recent economic situation, particularly with rising tariffs. We have seen the Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order date get delayed indefinitely from its planned April 9th date in the United States and Canada. While many have been concerned about the new Nintendo console, there has been some worry about the PlayStation 5.
Today, Sony has announced the PS5 price is set to rise in Europe, New Zealand, Australia, and United Kingdom.
Here are the new prices for PS5 consoles starting April 14, 2025:
Europe – PS5 Digital Edition – €499.99
United Kingdom – PS5 Digital Edition – £429.99
Australia – Standard PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive – $829.95 (AUD)
PS5 Digital Edition – $749.95 (AUD)
New Zealand – Standard PS5 with Ultra HD Blue-ray disc drive – $949.95
PS5 Digital Edition – $859.95 (NZD)
Sony did mention for Europe and the UK that there will be no pricing change for the standard PS5 with the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive.
While Sony has announced that prices for some of its PS5 editions will increase, Nintendo has not indicated whether the Switch 2 will also see a price rise or when pre-orders will become available. Currently, Nintendo Switch 2 will cost $449.99 (USD), with Mario Kart World costing $80 at launch.
