Santa Ragione announced that its upcoming survival horror Saturnalia will be releasing this October. Taking place in Sardinia, Italy around 1989, the story involves a mysterious, centuries-old ritual that occurs every year on the night of the winter solstice in the Italian village of Gravoi. Set in third-person, Saturnalia embraces a more refreshing rogue-like setup than the typical first-person view for the horror genre.

We will be tasked with controlling four different characters. Each of them, of course, has their own abilities that will allow us to solve the mystery surrounding the town and eventually escaping – preferably unharmed. There is no mini-map, compass or markers of any kind in Saturnalia. The ability to navigate will be relegated to the use of matches to light our way. Hunted by an unknown creature, we can not fight. Our only options will be running or hiding, and the ending we receive upon completing the game will be based on the choices we’ve made with our characters. Getting all four of your characters captured by the creature won’t reset your progress, but it will procedurally generate a new layout of the city. In a game with no markers, you are essentially starting all over.

Saturnalia is releasing on PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch on October 27th and is bringing a new twist to the survival horror genre. Stay tuned for our review upon release as well as our Twitch page for the streams. Gameplay trailer below
