Psychonauts 2 Performance Reveals Xbox Series X|S Leading With 120 FPS Modes, PlayStation 5 Receives 4K/60 Mode

In terms of how the upcoming anticipation for Double Fine Productions’ Psychonauts 2 is right now, the game is on the way for launch next month. Initially, the title was at the time scheduled to ship sometime in 2020, however, the developer decided to push the release to the following 2021 for well-needed refining. But, the team is aware of its fans patiently waiting for the sequel.

Later on this past spring, Double Fine Productions issued a statement acknowledging that Psychonauts 2 fans are still awaiting a date drop for the game and reaffirmed the project is to arrive this year. Then during the previous Xbox-Bethesda E3 Showcase last month, Double Fine Productions unveiled a new release date for August next month.

Now slated for the fourth week of August, fans are now curious as to what the game will offer for the hardware its arriving to. For that, how the game will perform and how much space the client will take on your hard drive. Speaking to Well Played, Double Fine Productions’ Tim Schafer spares a list of performance for Psychonauts 2 on all platforms which you can read below:

For Xbox One & PlayStation 4, the game runs at standard 30 frames per second with a full high-definition picture of 1080p. There is an exception for Xbox One X that offers 4K resolution and the latter PlayStation Pro that upscales to 1440p. Additionally, the PlayStation 5 will offer Psychonauts 2 in its last-generation form running at 60 frames per second with the same 1440p resolution.

However, Xbox Series X|S is receiving a dedicated version offering the game in two versions: Xbox Series X gets 4K with 60 FPS or 1440p with 120 FPS and Xbox Series S offer 2880p with 60 FPS or 1080p with 120 FPS respectively. Seemingly it appears PlayStation is receiving the watered-down version since there’s no dedicated support for the latest models.
