It was announced today on Famitsu’s Twitter that Raiden V will be released on the Xbox One by February 25, 2016. The tweet also linked to a news update that provided more details about the game. It mentions that the game will take full advantage of the Xbox One’s cloud processing functions, a feature touted by Microsoft at the console’s announcement. Other games using the Xbox One Cloud is Crackdown 3, which showed off its great capabilities in its destructible environments.
Raiden is a storied franchise that began as a shoot ‘em up or “shmup” arcade title in 1990. Since then, there have been four other main titles in the series, along with four other spinoff titles. Raiden V was originally announced last year at the Tokyo Game Show in Chiba. At the time, it was meant to be released by the end of this year. The game was also originally announced as an Xbox One exclusive, as both Raiden IV and Raiden Fighters Aces were both released on Xbox 360 during the prior generation. The announcement of the newest title’s use of the Xbox One’s cloud feature further solidifies its exclusivity to the console.
