For most of 2020’s duration, there has been discussions of Rainbow Six Siege coming to the next-generation consoles. Dating back to February, Windows Central reported that developer Ubisoft Montreal is preparing a devastating version for the newest iteration of Xbox & PlayStation coming the latter half of 2020.

It was not until the second Ubisoft Forward showcase that Ubisoft reiterated on the statement from late winter. It is told that the next-generation version for Rainbow Six Siege for Xbox Series X|S alongside PlayStation 5 is scheduled to ship by this holiday. At the time of the original statement, Ubisoft told cross-play is in the iron sights for Rainbow Six Siege, but the firm did not brief the feature coming this past September.

But now in a new announcement, Ubisoft announced that Rainbow Six Siege is scheduled to hit the latest console hardware at the start of December. You can watch the announcement trailer in the video below:

“The unique Operators and tense, tactical action of Rainbow Six Siege are coming to next-generation consoles,” the blog post reads. “The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game will support 4K resolution and up to 120 frames per second for players with displays that can support both, and players can select resolution mode or performance mode to ensure constant 4K graphics or 120 FPS, respectively.”

Ubisoft elaborates further by sparing that each system can configure their settings to appease to 4K 60 FPS, 1080p 120 FPS, 1080p 60 FPS if deciding to do so Elsewhere on PlayStation Blog, Ubisoft also tells cross-platform play between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 will be available. So, it is expected the same will apply for Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S coming December.

While the game is already available via backwards compatibility on the respected platform, there is a blunder of new enhancements unique to this version.
