During the PlayStation 5 showcase livestream that took place earlier today, it was revealed Insomniac Games is officially returning to the Ratchet & Clank series after nearly four years since the release of the titular reboot in 2016. During the virtual show, Sony and Insomniac Games unveiled Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

Taken from the titling alone, it’s easy to guess the direction the game is taking for the basis of the storyline for the coming entry. As Ratchet and Clank continue to get themselves in more trouble, the two companions find themselves getting into a bigger predicament as dimensions begin to tear until the two separate in the process of the quantum conundrum.

Following along with the announcement trailer, Insomniac Games sheds a glance at the core combat alongside the controls of the game minus the HUD for the base experience. At the end, however, when the two are finally separated, Clank ends up finding a new female character who he presumably befriend in his efforts to find Ratchet essentially.

Elsewhere during today’s livestream, Insomniac Games also revealed Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. You can read the full announcement by heading here.
