In the current events for the latest Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and ever ongoing Call of Duty: Warzone, Season 3 launched this past week. Upon welcoming a nourishing helping of content to the game, the most namely addition is the complete reworking of Verdansk. Now dubbed ‘Verdansk 84’, the familiar setting welcomes a complete makeover with some Black Ops-inspired points of interest as well.

To tack on to the discussion of Call of Duty: Warzone, the free-to-play experience also celebrates a reached milestone as well. In that, Activision announces that the battle royale has already succeeded well beyond more than 100 million players since its release in March 2020. And now with a new map and the inevitable follow-up, that number is to continue growing.

What has yet to comes as well for Call of Duty: Warzone is the dedicated next-generation versions for both PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X|S. But, Raven Software Creative Director Amos Hodge when speaking to Charlie Intel disclosed that it already established a “dedicated technology team” to work on the upgrades. Hodge also went on to elaborate that the studio is also “investigating” a FOV slider for the latest consoles as well.

Previously predating back to May 2020, Hodge did comment on the continued support for Call of Duty: Warzone that expands the game to the next-generation consoles. However, there has yet to be respected versions for the newest systems as of writing. While there are improvements in performance and targeting a higher resolution, the job is not entirely fulfilled.

Oddly enough, Xbox Series X received a patch back in November which enabled 120 frames per second support. But, the update has yet to be applied to the PlayStation 5 version of Call of Duty: Warzone. This happens to be a different client to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War which does support the performance benchmark on both systems. You can read the full report by heading here.
