Reggie explains why Zelda was a large focus at E3, and how the NX will have a effective transition from the Wii U

Nintendo so far have been focusing on their prime game, and that is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. At this years E3 the NX didn’t have a presence as some people were expecting. Even Reggie, president of Nintendo of America said in a interview that they are focusing on the content and not the console. So what can we expect from the console? Well Reggie got interviewed from Alternative Press and we can expect a effective transition from the Wii U to the NX.
“Regarding the Wii U, we have been able to put out a number of highly scoring games, games that consumers want to play, that you can’t play anywhere else. So from that standpoint the system absolutely has been a success, but when you come off from selling the Wii and selling over 100 million systems it’s really tough to lap that performance. What we’re focused on is making sure we have an effective transition from the Wii U, we’re going to have a strong holiday performance, we’ve got games coming for the system and then next year we’ll look forward to the NX.”
“We wanted to focus on this new Zelda experience because we knew that once fans got a chance to play that it would increase their desire for the game. And the fact that we’ll be launching it simultaneously on Wii U and NX (upcoming Nintendo console) really means that we’ve just shared with consumers around the world the system seller or one system seller for NX. So that’s why we’ve focused on it, there’s lots of time to share more details about our upcoming system, but right now it’s all about Zelda.”
I’m glad that Nintendo is trying to make their games as best as possible but its getting stale at this point. It seems like the only main selling point of the NX so far is its “games”, more specifically Zelda. I even have some friends who said that the only reason why they would even buy a Nintendo console is to play that game. Which is good but in the grand scheme of things is a very poor reason to buy a $300+ console.
Hopefully Nintendo have more games to show and maybe features that will make the NX stand out. As for the “effective” transition from the Wii U to the NX, maybe we can see something like how the Xbox One and Scorpio will be fully integrated to each other. Or maybe Nintendo have something else in mind.
