In recent news, it was revealed that Control: Ultimate Edition while already available on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC will also receive a Nintendo Switch version as well. During the latest Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, Remedy Entertainment unveiled Control: Ultimate Edition – Cloud Version. Derived from the title, the game is not directly running on Nintendo’s console and is being streamed to function.

However, Remedy Entertainment has an update for Control: Ultimate Edition, but not for the Nintendo Switch. Instead, the firm disclosed that the news is in regards to the next-generation consoles. It is that the definitive version for Control will not be available for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 until sometime in early 2021.

The Finnish team broke the news on Twitter with a tweet apologizing for fans anticipated to play Control: Ultimate Edition on newer hardware.

However, Control is not completely unavailable on next-generation hardware. Players that own the game on current-generation Xbox & PlayStation can continue to play that version through the respected backwards compatible on the corresponding platform. Control: Ultimate Edition will stand as the definitive next-generation version for Remedy Entertainment’s latest project. The studio went to verify that previously.

Elsewhere, Remedy Entertainment disclosed that while Control is ultimately finished now that the content roadmap has been fulfilled, the next entry from the firm will expand on the connected storyline between other releases. While uncertain exactly, it is told that the unnamed game, Alan Wake, and Control are all related in some way. You can read the full report by heading here.
