It looks like Microsoft are interested in acquiring WB Games that includes the likes of NetherRealm, Rocksteady Studios and more.

Not too long ago it was reported that AT&T were looking to sell off their game development units, now according to The Information, Microsoft has shown interest in a potential acquisition. Now, showing interest does not guarantee anything, but it shows that they could be interested in bringing more developers to the studio lineup Microsoft is building.

This would not mean that Microsoft would have exclusive rights for the new projects being made for Harry Potter as well as all the others that would be included in the deal.

The following studios that would join the Microsoft family:

  • NetherRealm
  • WB Games Montreal, Boston, New York, San Diego, and San Francisco
  • Monolith Productions
  • TT Games
  • Rocksteady Studios
  • Avalanche Software

“Warner’s parent, AT&T, hasn’t yet decided whether to sell the business. It is weighing the possibility as it looks at ways of paying down its $154 billion in debt,”

Do you think this will happen?

The Xbox Games Showcase will be hosted on July 23 as Microsoft will be showing off their first-party lineup with third-party games to be shown. Halo Infinite looks like it’ll have a big showcase as it’s the launch title for Xbox Series X.

It was found today that Rare’s new Battletoads project received a rating in Brazil and it’s possible that we may see something later in the month related to the new Battletoads
