The phenomena that is the Super Smash Bros. franchise has steadily been known for the amount of unique characters available from a slew of different properties and games. Initially, the series was comprised of only known faces from Nintendo-owned titles for the first two installments, until 2008’s ventured to third-party games with the introduction of Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog.

Follow suit, future installments introduced more characters of course then which swiftly spawned fan predictions that could be likely to join the battle next. Among many fan favorite protagonists that many have been eager to see debut on the series, Kingdom Hearts’ Sora is one that many still question not being added to the roster.

While the process of picking these characters is unknown for future additions, there happens to be new information that clears the clouds over Sora’s chances of being added. In the most recent Kinda Funny Gamecast episode, Host Imran Khan discloses that Nintendo did try to incorporate the Kingdom Hearts main character, but failed due to Disney denying their request.

Speaking on the matter, Khan tells that “they [Nintendo] absolutely approached Disney about it once,” regarding Sora being added to the cast of fighters. Commenting on the possibility of Disney possibly being the reason behind Sora’s absence from the game, Khan clarifies that it’s ”Disney Japan specifically.”

Despite Kahn’s credibility in the video gaming industry, some have went to question the foundation of his statement. Dualshockers disclosed later on that there happens to be no residing offices for Disney in Japan, so that contests how tangible Khan is on the subject. This then goes on to raise question marks surrounding how the character would be exempt from being added if the Japanese division of Disney does not have a structured domain in the country.

However, it should be noted that Khan has previously disclosed information prior running close to other Nintendo properties. Khan happened to be one of the first people to report the presence of the unannounced Metroid Prime Trilogy back in 2018. Him among other influential people in the industry have went on to tell the same thing as Nintendo is virtually finished with the bundle of games.

What are your thoughts on Disney’s decision to disregard Sora from being added to Super Smash Bros.?
