Since the departure of Hideo Kojima from Konami, the creator of Metal Gear Solid went on to develop and ship Death Stranding with Guillermo Del Toro and Norman Reedus. But while Kojima has moved on to new pastures at Kojima Productions, the property still resides at the Japanese publisher. Since then, the most namely release from Konami using the Metal Gear name came to be Metal Gear Survive which is received to be a poor spin-off of a greater series.

But while the game has only belittled what many recognize from the Metal Gear property since its inception more than three decades ago, there are greener pastures to come for the franchise. Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, responsible for Kong: Skull Island, revealed to be pursuing a Metal Gear motion picture with help from Hideo Kojima himself. Since Vogt-Roberts unveiled the production back in 2015, the last he remarked on it happened in 2018.

In a thread on Twitter, Vogt-Roberts posted a string of concept art in celebration of the franchise’s 31st anniversary at the time. Already being a fan of the video game series, Vogt-Roberts wanted to simply reflect on the progress of the IP: the images featured was told not to mirror what will be found when the film hits the box office.

Now in a new report from Deadline, casting for Solid Snake has finally been decided. According to the entertainment-centered outlet, it is said that Oscar Isaac (Ex Machina, Sucker Punch, Robin Hood) will be taking the role of the franchise’s protagonist. Deadline discloses that a start for production is still undetermined due to Isaac’s busy schedule as of yet.

Elsewhere in relevance to Metal Gear as of late, multiple entries were listed in Taiwan earlier in September for PC. Shortly following the surprise of Metal Gear entries being categorized for a PC release, the uncovered titles were later available on CD Projekt Red’s GoG.com.
