Reported Remakes At Capcom Includes Resident Evil 0 & Code Veronica

At Capcom, a large portion of its recent success is thanks to the recent string of remake releases – especially from its Resident Evil property. Of course, the firm is interested to see if there is a demand for more franchises to follow the same path. In one survey, Capcom held ‘Super Elections’ asking if there’s drive by consumers on select remakes including Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, Okami, Ace Attorney, and even Dino Crisis.

Currently, it is understood that Capcom is preparing yet another Resident Evil remake. In one rumor on X, it was indicated plans for the next remake is the first Resident Evil. What’s more, notorious leaker Dusk Golem also had corroborating sources sharing similar information with plans to release in 2025.

Now in a new update from the leaker, and backed by Video Game Chronicle editor-in-chief Andy Robinson, plans for the next remakes include Resident Evil 0 as well as Code Veronica. What’s more, the leaker also denounced the previous rumors surrounding any form of remake for the original Resident Evil. “A remake of Resident Evil Zero & Code Veronica in development right now,” Dusk Golem says in the X thread.

“I’ve talked to many others behind the scenes about this at this point, it’s something I heard over a year ago, think it was going to get out whether I was the one to say it or not, & that’s about it.” Atop condemning the prior remake rumor, the leaker also notes plans for Resident Evil 5 – at least anticipated in the order Capcom is heading – is not being planned internally either.

Dusk Golem does elaborate on the next mainline title. In that, Resident Evil 9 is now planning for a late 2025 release. The user even dismisses any hope for a summer 2024 reveal for the flagship title. The original report indicated a release for early 2025. You can read the full report by heading here.
