The current motion of the waves concerning the highly-anticipated remake for Resident Evil 3 looked to be arriving at shore this week due to a handful of different leaks that have unearthed in the past month. Most recently, it was discovered that the cover art for the game was uploaded online for PlayStation which reveals to offer different versions of the game alongside region exclusive packaging.

However, the recent discovery also led to users pointing fingers at this year’s Game Awards to properly announce that game during this Thursday’s show. But before that claim could really pick up some heat, Game Awards host Geoff Keighley denounced the rumor to only being crafted by over-excited fans and will not be happening during the annual event. But there was one more possibility, this today’s State of Play presentation.

During the last livestreamed show for Sony Interactive Entertainment, Capcom provided a first look at the unannounced project with a rendered in-engine trailer of the rework for the classic 1999 title, which you can view below:

The highly-requested remake is scheduled to release later in April of next year right around the time of the standalone Resident Evil Resistance. As part of a promotion for those who pick up the game at launch, users will receive the online-focused title along with the approaching remake.

Upon the newly announced title, Capcom also disclosed that there will also be a Collector’s Edition available for pre-order aside from the standard version of the game. The GameStop-exclusive pre-order option offers a statue of the protagonist Jill Valentine, Digital Download for the game’s Soundtrack, Physical Artbook, double-sided Map of Raccoon City, and a specialized S.T.A.R.S. Collector’s Box.

In a Special Developer message video elsewhere, Producers Peter Fabiano and Masachika Kawata share their excitement for the announcement of the project finally being out in the open. Atop of learning more of the game, some snippets of the game are also presented during the video.
