Resident Evil 6 likely coming to Xbox Series X|S soon

It appears that Resident Evil 6 will be coming to Xbox Series X|S consoles in the near future. On ESRB’s official website, it has rated the 2012 Action and Survival Horror game M for Mature only for Xbox Series consoles.

Resident Evil 6 was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 2, 2012, and almost 13 years later it seems to be arriving on modern platforms. The game was also ported to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in March 2016 as well as the Resident Evil 4 and 5 titles. Capcom then brought Resident Evil 6 to the Nintendo Switch in 2019.

Will Resident Evil 6 Come To PlayStation 5?

Interestingly, the ESRB listing for Resident Evil 6 does not mention a PlayStation 5 version. We’d still expect this game to be released on Sony’s console, possibly at the same time. However, we’ll have to wait for official word from Capcom.

Since Resident Evil 6 was just rated for Xbox Series X|S this gives us the indication it will be a remaster and not a remake like Resident Evil 4 received. It will likely feature graphical improvements that utilize the current hardware’s capabilities.

Could Resident Evil 5 Be Next?

From what we are able to see, Resident Evil 5 has not been rated for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S. It would be an odd choice to port Resident Evil 6 but not the previous game. It’s likely Capcom is working on a remaster for Resident Evil 5 and it just hasn’t gotten to ESRB yet.

We will probably see an announcement sometime this year about Resident Evil 6 coming to current-generation Xbox and Playstation consoles. When a game gets rated that is often a positive sign a release is coming soon.

Would you play another port of Resident Evil 6?
