While we’ve known that Resident Evil 7 Biohazard would be getting a very wide release, its gotten yet another interesting launch avenue: Xbox Play Anywhere. The latest Resident Evil entry was originally set to launch on PlayStation 4, Steam, and Xbox One, but Phil Spencer announced on Twitter today that the game would be launching on Xbox One as well as Windows 10 via the Windows Store courtesy of previously unannounced Xbox Play Anywhere functionality.
As most will know, Xbox Play Anywhere allows a customer to purchase an Xbox One or Windows 10 game digitally and get a bundled copy of the same game for the other system (Windows 10 or Xbox One, respectively). Sadly, the feature has only applied to digital purchases, soon to be changed with the physical release of Halo Wars 2 for Windows 10, but as most games are bought digitally, it’s not likely to affect most purchases. The game is still set to release on January 24, but now Windows 10 players have another way to buy the game and it will likely be especially interesting for Xbox or Windows 10 gamers with the complementary system. Currently, there are no other details regarding the Xbox Play Anywhere launch, but we’ll keep you updated on future developments.
