The conversation about one of the most anticipated titles from 2018 expanding its availability library to consoles has been the topic of discussion for Lucas Pope’s Return of the Obra Dinn. While the game is currently exclusive to PC for the time being, Pope back in May discussed the possibility of seeing the game on Nintendo Switch. And while that would be a great addition to the Nintendo eShop, Pope showed to focus his energy towards a port for VR before we see a launch on console.

However, that seemed to only draw impatient fans away for the time being as we later discovered during last month’s Nintendo Direct that the game will be coming to Nintendo Switch later this Fall. But now, it looks that the game will also be arriving to the competing Xbox and PlayStation as well.

Lead developer Lucas Pope in a recent tweet on Twitter announced that all three versions of the game will be coming next Friday.

Looking at Pope’s previous title Papers, Please which released on PC and PlayStation Vita previously, it was nearly expected that the successor would soon migrate to PlayStation 4 at some point. Then seeing the Nintendo Switch and its continuous success with independent developed titles, it would be shocking not seeing one of the biggest indie games of last year not hit the Switch’s library.

The biggest surprise, however, is that the game is coming to Xbox despite not releasing other work on Microsoft’s platform. That and there still being no mobile release for the title: Pope has a background with his projects hitting the smart phone market, including his 2012 puzzler, so where is the port for Return of the Obra Dinn?

Return of the Obra Dinn will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 18, 2019.
