This time last year was the initial release of Red Dead Redemption 2 which introduced the prequel sequel of Rockstar game’s titular, open-world western and presented how such a title could push the capabilities of modern hardware with the game’s gorgeous visuals and the absolute scale the project came out to be. In celebration of this year’s Halloween season, Rockstar Games debut the Fear of the Dark mode for a limited time.
Originally revealed this Tuesday, the new timed game mode is a pseudo hide and seek variant in the showdown section of Red Dead Online introducing the fast and versatile Night Stalkers. Witnessing one from this piece’s header, they are on the hunt for human flesh and will do so in the new mode: the fleeing Hunters must collect scattered masks and exterminate said Night Stalkers to come out as the winner.
As with every addition made to the Five Counties, Rockstar has also included a few extra items to the Wheeler, Rawson & Co. Catalogue for purchase; the Creswell Skirt, Manstilla Poncho, Picket Boots, Sierra Boots, Thacker hat, Tobacco Hat, and Torranca Coat. Patrons who have yet to select their role of choice from September’s ‘Frontier Pursuits’ update will each receive a specialized mask for their respected occupation.
The Fear of the Dark mode currently runs until November 12 month, so players will have time to indulge in the exciting new themed event. Players who participate until this Sunday will be rewarded 3X Gold and 2XRDO$ upon completing a match. PC users though missing the timed reward bonus will still have enough time to enjoy the Halloween mode as the game will be arriving on November 5th this coming Tuesday.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently available for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
