Calico from Peachy Keen Games is a day-in-the-life community sim game where you are given an important and adorable task: rebuild the town’s cat café. It’s the game that cat lovers always dreamed of where you are in a world literally full of cats and friends.

When playing the game for the first time you’ll be introduced to Mayor Kiva who teaches you some of the features of the game whether it’s searching for a cat, picking them up, introducing them to your café, or moving around furniture. You’ll also notice some of the joyful music that Calico has to offer while you explore the large island full of your favorite animals.

You’ll also find yourself creating yummy cat treats and the process of doing it seems weird because you all of a sudden turn miniature in the kitchen. In order to find some ingredients, you will have to fling your character across the kitchen with wooden spoons to get across. The process of creating pastries for at least the first time is time-consuming which is important, but will probably have you bored.

Graphically, Calico may not be the sexiest of games, but it does have an art style that will catch your eye due to its bright colors all over the island. This game isn’t going to impress you visually as it will have to keep you engaged in gameplay.

The gameplay is very simple which provides a relaxing and laid-back experience, but after a while, you will become quite bored of the same objectives through the game. There’s something strange about the way your character runs through the island looking for cats and at times you might get stuck in weird areas of the world.

Calico is a perfect game for anyone who is a fan of simulations like Animal Crossing and for the biggest Calico lovers. If you are someone looking for a brand new game to play, I wouldn’t recommend this game as it does have a lot of negatives compared to positives.
