There are a ton of gaming controllers from multiple brands to choose from today. At times it might seem overwhelming. The folks at EasySMX have provided us with their X20 Multiplatform Gaming Controller with Trigger Lock and Hall Effect Sensors.
Inside the box of the X20 Gaming Controller, you’ll find the controller itself, the USB transmitter for wireless connectivity, and a wire if you prefer to have your controller wired to your PC.
Before we talk about our impressions of the controller here are some of the features:
The X20 is equipped with an Elite 2-Way Trigger lock to set the travel distance of the triggers with 2 different positions to pull off quicker actions in FPS games or to experience the speed with the Hall Effect Linear trigger in racing games.
Right away one of the features it has is Detachable Hall Sticks. The analog sticks the X20 gaming controller comes with can easily be disassembled and replaced with different sticks or if you want to make the height different.
Personally, I have no need to change the analog sticks on my controllers and prefer them as they are.
Another feature is the mechanical buttons (ABXY), shoulders, and D-Pad. The buttons have clicky tactile feedback and quicker response on games. Lastly, there are also 3 light modes of RGB, 5-level adjustable vibration, 4 program back buttons, and a 1000Hz polling rate.
The X20 Multiplatform Gaming Controller from EasySMX is only compatible with the Nintendo Switch, PC, and Mobile devices. To me, this is one of its downsides: it cannot connect to PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Looking at it before reading into it you’ll automatically assume it’s compatible with Xbox. For a controller advertised as multiplatform, it was disappointing to me that it left out at least one of the two larger consoles.
Visually, the X20 Gaming Controller is a beauty, especially with its RGB feature. However, we care more about the performance than looks when it comes to investing in a controller that can possibly enhance our gaming experience.
First off, the rumble features are fantastic. Compared to any ordinary Nintendo Switch or Xbox controller I will have to say the Rumble features are a lot better. Playing a game like Helldivers 2 on PC with this controller has been a great benefit with the mappable buttons and the Trigger Lock features that are on the back that can help you set how you like the triggers.
Initially, when I started playing with the controller I did not like the Tactile Buttons, but honestly, they are a neat addition. Is this something that will help my personal experience of gaming? I am not so sure about that.
Comfortability is a big factor when it comes to using a controller. The positions of the analog sticks are something I prefer when it comes to gaming. The EasySMX X20 Multiplatform Gaming Controller features finely engraved texture to maximize friction for an anti-slip grip, which is a neat feature on the controller.
The tops of the analog sticks can detach easily, which is convenient, but this can happen accidentally very easily as you are using it.
Is It Worth The Price?
At the end of the day is the EasySMX X20 Multiplatform Gaming Controller worth the price? For $59.99, I feel like there are better options on the market that are already a step above this controller. However, if this controller was on sale for $40 I would say consider it.
The name itself can be confusing for consumers as they may think it will work on every possible platform when it only can connect to PC, Nintendo Switch, and Mobile.
It’s a controller designed to provide a premium feel at an affordable price. I would wait for a sale before making a purchase. Don’t let the RGB feature distract you when thinking about purchasing this controller.
