Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit is the latest release in the FNAF universe featuring Oswald, the main character who wishes his town, and his life, weren’t so boring. When Oswald’s father takes him to Jeff’s Pizzeria downtown, Oswald explores and finds a ball pit that looks exciting at first. However, he soon realizes it’s not so fun and begins to regret his decision.
Oswald’s father has been snatched into the mysterious ball pit by Yellow Rabbit, the main animatronic in this game. The main objective ends up being to save your father while trying not to get killed in the meantime by Yellow Rabbit, Chica, Bonnie, and Freddy. While you are on your mission to save Dad you’ll rescue other kids in the meantime that have been captured by the other animatronics.
FNAF: Into the Pit features a great set of puzzles to complete certain objectives such as rescuing the kid or trying to lure Chica, Freddy, and Bonnie. The puzzles in this game are nothing too difficult and if anything the hardest part about them is to find the items you need to finish the objective. One of the complaints about the puzzles is that they can feel repetitive at times.
The dialogue in Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit is excellent, and there’s no shortage of it. You will learn a lot about the relationship between Oswald and his father. There are also numerous conversations between the other kids at Fazbear’s and at school, where you’ll find plenty of clever easter eggs related to the universe and some of the developer’s games.
There is no doubt that this FNAF title gives off a lot of creepy vibes as you play, whether you are trying to stealth around Freddy Fazbear’s pizzeria or even escaping from your own home. Mega Cat Studios was able to nail down an exceptional frightening experience while using pixelated graphics, which in some cases is tough to achieve. What gives off this creepy experience is the combination of its sound effects, music, and just the idea of getting caught by an animatronic.
There are five different places Oswald can visit which are Jeff’s Pizzeria, The Mill, Library, School, and Home. Each place will have an important part of the story, but honestly, it would be better if we were able to utilize the Library a little more than you do in the initial playthrough.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit offers great replayability as players can jump back in to find all of the secrets, enjoy new difficulties, and try to earn a different ending than the first time. If we had to say something negative about the game is that the gameplay experience can feel repetitive.
Mega Cat Studios has delivered an outstanding experience with Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit, offering a unique experience for dedicated fans of the series. It also serves as a great introduction for those who have never ventured into the FNAF universe.
