In the murky depths of the gaming world, Pathfinder: Gallowspire Survivors emerges as a beacon of disappointment within the esteemed Pathfinder universe, as a digital rendition roguelite survivor game. Despite the weight of its storied IP, this digital endeavor falls short of expectations at every turn. Delving into its shadowy corridors and confronting its legendary challenges reveals the stark truth: Pathfinder: Gallowspire Survivors falls drastically short of its promised epic adventure. Hindered by lackluster gameplay mechanics, uninspired visuals, and a narrative that feels like a boring snoozefest rather than captivating, this installment fails to uphold the esteemed legacy of its tabletop counterpart.

As mentioned, Pathfinder: Gallowspire Survivors is a new rogue-lite survivor game set in the beloved fantasy world of Pathfinder. As one of three heroes (Fighter, Rogue, or Wizard), you will venture into Gallowspire, Pathfinder’s legendary tower of darkness in the world of Golarion, alongside a fearless companion, on a doomed quest to seal away the greatest threat the world has ever known, which is just as ironic as the doomed quest this game is.

Engaging in meticulously crafted boss fights is undoubtedly a highlight of Gallowspire Survivors, and these encounters elevate the challenge, demanding tactical prowess and quick thinking to emerge victorious. However, the thrill of these battles is easily overshadowed by the game’s lackluster gameplay mechanics. While the arsenal of 67+ abilities and 36+ talents suggests a breadth of strategic options, the execution feels shallow, failing to inspire creativity or depth in combat.

When it comes to the exploration aspect of the game, the game features 16 floors across 3 biomes, which holds promise initially. However, the repetitive nature of the environments and encounters quickly dulls the sense of adventure. The inclusion of 12 mini-bosses and 4 epic bosses attempts to add variety, but doesn’t offer much to help bring this game from its grave of doom.

While the developers have listened, and added community-requested features such as hyper mode, aim & dash mechanics, and potion belts, again they do nothing to enhance the experience or compensate for the game’s shortcomings.

One aspect of Gallowspire Survivors is its cooperative gameplay. Let’s be honest, if you’re inviting a friend to join as a companion in this game, they might not be your friend for long, even though cooperative gameplay might bring a small amount of enjoyment over playing alone.

To wrap it all up, while you might have a small amount of fun and adventure, exploring dungeons, finding hidden treasure chests, and relying on the luck of d20 rolls to dictate fate, are all a part of the Pathfinder experience, Pathfinder: Gallowspire Survivors ultimately falls short of its potential, delivering a lackluster experience that fails to capture the essence of the beloved tabletop RPG, while Despite its ambitious scope and promising features, the game ultimately struggles to provide a compelling adventure within the Pathfinder universe, and defiantly is not worth even the low price tag it has, while even on a launch sale of 40% off.
