Welcome to REYNATIS, an electrifying magical RPG that plunges you into a Tokyo like no other—a city gripped by the oppressive Criminal Magic Response Act, where citizens are forbidden to roam at night, yet few heed the warning. Amid this uneasy calm, two powerful sorcerers, Marin Kirizumi and Sari Nishijima, are set on a collision course, their ideals destined to clash in a battle for the future of magic.

Marin, haunted by his past and driven by the promise of freedom, has one goal: to become the strongest wizard and break the chains of oppression. His arrival in Shibuya’s forbidden nightscape is just the beginning. On the opposite side stands Sari, a fierce protector who wields her magic not for personal gain but to enforce her vision of justice. As the city teeters on the brink of chaos, with illegal drugs turning citizens into monstrous fiends, Sari fights to maintain order and stop those who would misuse their power.

To Explain the story the best I can, without any spoilers , In REYNATIS, you’ll step into a world where magic is both a gift and a curse, and the streets of Shibuya become a battleground for ideals. Marin seeks liberation, Sari seeks control, and somewhere in between, the fate of the city lies. The only question is—whose vision of Shibuya will prevail?

Moving on from the Story, let’s talk about how battles work in REYNATIS. The battles in REYNATIS are a high-octane blend of strategy and timing, centered around the dynamic balance between Suppressed and Liberated modes. In Suppressed Mode, players can’t attack, but they gain an invaluable edge with the ability to effortlessly dodge any incoming enemy strikes with a single button press. This defensive stance requires patience but can be a game-changer when avoiding heavy damage. On the flip side, Liberated Mode is where the action truly heats up. In this state, players can unleash a relentless barrage of attacks, but there’s a catch—defense is no longer an option. Timing becomes critical, as you must choose the right moment to go all out without leaving yourself vulnerable.

Adding depth to the combat, players can seamlessly switch between up to three characters during battle, each equipped with their own set of unique abilities. This character-swapping mechanic opens up endless possibilities, allowing players to adapt to the evolving battlefield and select the perfect character for each situation. Mastering the synergy between Suppressed and Liberated modes, along with knowing when to switch characters, is the key to pulling off devastating combos and gaining the upper hand in intense encounters.

Next Let’s talk about how Suppressed and Liberated modes, and how they affect exploration in the game . In Suppressed Mode, your magical abilities are concealed, allowing you to blend in with everyday civilians. As long as your true identity remains hidden, you can interact with people, gaining valuable exploration tips and unlocking new quests during your conversations.

Switching to Liberated Mode unleashes your magic, allowing you to move faster and access areas more easily. However, this comes with a risk—civilians may recognize you as a wizard and report you to the Magic Enforcement Agency, who will then come after you with full force.

Finally before we wrap up this review , let’s talk about graphics. The real city of Shibuya has been painstakingly recreated in REYNATIS, the game allows you to walk around the city to find everything from famous landmarks such as SHIBUYA109 to hole-in-the-wall joints that only the savviest will know. The recreation of Shibuya is highly detailed and being in beautiful 4k , 120 FPS, the clarity and smoothness is one. of the best I’ve seen in a game.

To keep the game new and fresh, Starting October 1, 2024, REYNATIS will receive a free content update on the first of every month through April 1, 2025. These updates include new story episodes for main characters Marin Kirizumi and Sari Nishijima and a secret episode filled with new action, magical clashes, and additional story insights. Free content updates for 7 months is a great way to support the game into the future.
