While trying to avoid any spoilers , a quick recap of the story In Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, is about our main protagonist’s routine walk home in modern-day Tokyo taking a harrowing turn when he stumbles upon a grisly murder scene. Forced to take an unexpected detour, he ends up buried and unconscious, only to awaken in an apocalyptic wasteland known as Da’at. This desolate version of Tokyo is overrun by bloodthirsty demons. Just as they are about to claim his life, a mysterious savior appears. Together, they merge into a powerful being called a Nahobino, a creature that is neither human nor demon.

Armed with this newfound power, the protagonist sets out to explore Da’at, a mysterious realm where mythical deities and demonic tyrants are locked in perpetual conflict. Shin Megami Tensei 5 already boasted a substantial roster of recruitable and fusion-acquired demons, yet the Vengeance update elevates the game further by introducing 40 additional demons. Among these newcomers are several unique entities making their debut in the Megami Tensei series, enriching the game’s extensive demon compendium.

Moreover, the number of demon guides available in the game has surged from six to an impressive 17. These guides play a crucial role in navigating the expansive maps of SMT 5, helping players uncover a multitude of hidden treasures. Notably, they also highlight new shortcut-savvy railways, which significantly reduce the difficulty of traversing the game’s vast landscapes.

Another notable change is the level cap is increased from 99 to 150, providing power-savvy players with a substantial boost in strength and abilities. Players can test these newfound skills with the help of a virtual trainer, a new NPC designed to offer challenging rematches against story bosses. These rematches are more difficult than the original encounters, providing a fresh and intense experience.
