Summary
The Turtle Beach Stealth 500 feels like a premium gaming headset and performs like one. For just $79.99 this is a steal for any customer looking to upgrade from their old headset.
Turtle Beach is back with a new set of headsets, including the new Stealth 500, a multiplatform gaming headset. This latest pair of headphones will work on your PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
The Stealth 500 is equipped with low-latency wireless and Bluetooth 40mm drives and a flip-to-mute mic, and it comes with a 40-hour battery life. We can’t forget to mention this is an ultra-lightweight headset with a comfortable design.
There are a lot of neat features with the Stealth 500 headset to the point where you can customize its settings through the Turtle Beach Swarm app where you’ll install the initial updates. Above you can see I have the Treble and Bass boosted and that can amplify the audio when playing a game or even just listening to music. There is the regular Turtle Beach Signature Sound that is completely standard and then you have the Bass Boost and Vocal Boost. These are all presets and you can change these to however you like.
There are even more settings with the Turtle Beach Stealth 500 headset. The Superhuman Hearing is where the value comes in for this product. You can choose if you’d like to hear more footsteps, gunshots, or just a mix of both with the legacy setting. There’s also the microphone setting such as monitoring if you like to hear yourself talk or even adjusting the sensitivity.
Lastly, you can check the status of your Stealth 500 in case you need to charge it, making sure the drivers are up to date, and there are some hotkey options you can set.
A downfall of the Stealth 500 headset is the transmitter since it’s wireless. You’ll need to ensure you have an extra USB slot on your PC or consoles. I switched between my PlayStation 5 and PC multiple times and the transition was easy. Another downfall would have to be the headband as it creates a crease on your head just like many other headsets, but these have an opening in it. There is a band that tries to protect it, but usually, it can’t cover it all.
Turtle Beach Stealth 500 is the definition of comfort
I have used almost every type of gaming headset you can think of such as the Astro A40, and HyperX Cloud II, and they don’t even come close to the comfort that Turtle Beach delivers. Granted those are wired headsets I am comparing the Stealth 500 to but wireless or not, earphones have to deliver comfort. My ears never felt so relaxed with a gaming headset before and that’s thanks to the memory foam cushions.
I used the Turtle Beach Stealth 500 headset for a week straight and I haven’t had to charge it once. The 40-hour life is another reason the $79.99 price is tough to beat as it feels like you never need to charge it. The closest competitor when it comes to battery life is the HyperX Stinger Core Wireless which only has a 17-hour battery life. That’s a 23-hour difference compared to the Stealth.
The Stealth 500 feels and acts like a premium gaming headset and it’s a steal of a price. Feel free to purchase yours on Amazon or a local retailer.
