Although RGG Studio is recognized for countless IPs, it is primarily picked out for the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series. In recent times, the show continues to entertain more buzz for its future. One of the louder reveals to come from the Sega team is RGG Studio continuing to support its Dragon Engine. After tinkering with Unreal Engine, the developer said its plan is to further work on its proprietary system.
Additionally, the team has teamed up with Amazon Prime Video as a live-action TV series is coming later this fall. Releasing in two parts, it follows the debut storyline of Kazuma Kiryu from the first release. In an interview with IGN Japan recently, lead actor Ryoma Takeuchi elaborated that his approach for the starring protagonist was created from the ground up in which he hopes fans will enjoy the portrayal.
This week at San Diego Comic-Con, RGG Studio held a panel for Like A Dragon: Yakuza and revealed the first trailer for the live-action television show. You can watch the trailer in the video below:
What’s more, RGG Studio in celebration of the first look for the TV show also released new ‘Series Starter Packs’ for the original titles across Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. Series chief producer Hiroyuki Sakamoto also made a statement via a post on X: “As we continue to bring the like a dragon & yakuza brand to new mediums, we saw a great opportunity to create clear starting points for new audiences to experience the games that inspired the upcoming prime video live-action show.
“I hope offering these series starter packs at a value will create many new fans who play each series as we envisioned, from the beginning and in release order.” There are three bundles altogether, Yakuza Series Starter Pack, Like a Dragon Series Starter Pack, and Yakuza Complete Series.
