When it comes to Rockstar Games’ billboard releases, many players find themselves to be lost in the amount of atmosphere and opportunities at their disposal. And especially on PC, players continue to indulge in what can be done with the immense number of roleplay communities on the platform. However, the developer has been notorious for slamming its users creating mods for these games.
For those who might recall, there was a massive swing of legal action being done for its legacy releases a few years back. In response, LiberyCity.net after facing over a handful of DMCA filings shuttered the respected mods. The notion for the legality work is majorly part of its effort for releasing Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Collection which launched later that year.
Recently, Rockstar Games in a surprise announcement revealed a new acquisition is coming under its wing. But rather than an established game studio or developer, the firm actually paid for one of the prominent roleplay communities for Rockstar Games titles – Cfx.re. “we are proud to announce that Cfx.re — the team behind the biggest Rockstar roleplay and creator communities, FiveM and RedM — are now officially a part of Rockstar Games.
“Over the past few years, we’ve watched with excitement as Rockstar’s creative community have found new ways to expand the possibilities of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2, particularly through the creation of dedicated roleplay servers. As a way to further support those efforts, we recently expanded our policy on mods to officially include those made by the roleplay creative community.
“By partnering with the Cfx.re team, we will help them find new ways to support this incredible community and improve the services they provide to their developers and players. We look forward to sharing more in the weeks and months ahead.” Rockstar Games continues to surprise its followers with also releasing some weight on the community mod policy it has in place, the press release shared.
Elsewhere, Rockstar Games is preparing to launch a new game this week. While not entirely new, PlayStation 4 & Nintendo Switch owners can officially welcome Red Dead Redemption to its library. Already, Xbox One has the game via backwards compatibility so there is no enhanced version coming. You can read the full report by heading here.
