Rumor: Live-Action Kingdom Hearts Television Series Underway for Disney+

Currently, Kingdom Hearts fans are expected to be waiting on the next entry for the titular series from Square Enix. The anticipated Re:Mind story expansion for the latest Kingdom Hearts 3 already shipped earlier this year and for now does not expect to receive more add-ons in the coming future, Director Tetsuya Nomura shared during a Q&A back in January.

Around the same time, Square Enix shared a new project that is scheduled to ship later on in the coming spring dubbed Project Xehanort. The developer shared to unveil the official name in the coming week giving fans time to guess the title which was later revealed to be Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road. The game as of yet is still waiting for its debut on mobile devices.

However, for fans still patiently waiting, there happens to be a new rumor circulating around which could draw some excitement in the meantime. According to a report from We Got This Covered, the entertainment outlet shares that multiple sources reveal Disney is planning a live-action Kingdom Hearts series for its streaming platform, Disney+.

The website shares that no details for the plot of the show has been spared alongside any candidates to be casted for the roles of the characters. We Got This Covered tells to expect the main cast to be present like Sora, Mickey, Goofy, and Donald are anticipated to take the leading roles of the supposed new series in the works. But, any Final Fantasy faces are said to be missing from the project.

Acknowledging the confusing storyline that in imbedded in the hierarch of plot for the entire Kingdom Hearts series, We Got This Covered goes on to suspect that the alleged live-action show will be a reboot of the series. The outlet elaborates on the speculation by sharing that it would not damage the binds of already-invested fans and new viewers who will take interest in the series if it plans to make it to the streaming app.

With this only being a rumor spruced by undisclosed sources, it is best to take this information at your own discretion. Especially since there is no details regarding plot or even a projected screenwriter to pen the storyline, this story might extinguish itself as time continues forward.
