It seems that there is yet another crack in the Konami fish tank as one more leak has seeped through the growing fissure. It was just this past week that rumors emerged which align with a previous set of claims centered around the Silent Hill property. According to anonymous sources who spoke with Rely on Horror, Sony is involved with bringing the Silent Hill franchise back with a reboot.
The unannounced title is said to also have SIE Japan Studio and ‘Project Siren’ developers also intertwined in the game development. Another source speaking with the outlet disclosed that Kojima Productions and Konami are discussing a potential revival of Silent Hills as well.
Now according to a resurfacing claim made by a supposed Konami employee, Sony is looking to outright acquire the property rights for Silent Hill. Even more, the claim tells that Sony is pursuing buy the rights for also Metal Gear and Castlevania. This information comes from GameSpot GameFAQ poster ArcadeGuy who unearthed the post and shared it on the forum.

The alleged employee at Konami made the post back in January. In the thread, they share that Sony is interested in working to reboot not only Silent Hill, but also Metal Gear’s first two installments atop of Castlevania. While this could have been passed as conjecture prior, the claim now holds some ground as more plausible reports have surfaced as of lately.
When speaking on the matter of Silent Hill, the employee tells that Keiichiro Toyama is involved with the project. They also state that Mashahiro Ito is also involved to some extent when linking a tweet of him citing to be “working on a title as a core member,” Ito wrote back in January. Yet another trait which does align with previous rumors validating that Toyama is working on a Silent Hill reboot. Interestingly, the claim also suggests Ikumi Nakamura is supposedly working on the project also.
The leak then goes on to speak of Metal Gear – sharing that both Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake are expected to receive a reboot. The employee adds that it is “ideologically” expected for the games to be rebooted until the fifth entry of the series. And alike the claim for Silent Hill, the game is aimed to ship for the approaching PlayStation 5.
As for Castlevania, a reboot to some extent is said to be planned by Sony. In addition, Shutaro Iida and Koji Igarashi are said to be involved for this project. However, this reimagining for the series will break the traditional 2D formula instead to harbor a “Bloodborne style,” the employee tells. For some reference, they claim the project to be similar to 2010’s Castlevania: Lords of Shadows.
With a lot to take in, it should be noted that everything mentioned is still contended as a rumor until further processed by either Sony Interactive Entertainment or Konami. Especially seeing the claim coming from a 4Chan post, it is never too bad to be safe despite how much of this new information is corresponding with previously made claims.
What rumor do you hope to be the most true?
