Rumor: Switch Version Of The Witcher 3 Is On The Way

As the Nintendo Switch has slowly taken the spotlight with AAA titles making their appearance on the new console/handheld platform, more anticipated titles follow onto the Nintendo eShop. With titles like Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and Doom, the capabilities of how the Switch performs is put to the test and surprisingly succeeds.

According to a recently emerged rumor, the highly anticipated Witcher 3 could be the next title to come onto the Switch’s library of AAA titles. In a post from ResetEra user Richiek, a French wholesale retailer leaked the 2015’s Switch port on their website. For those unaware, the leak initially took form previously on wtt.biz with a placeholder date for December 31, 2019: which has now been taken down following towards the latest rumor.

Despite the exciting possibility of CD Projekt Red’s adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s novel coming to Nintendo’s platform, the likeliness of it actually happening is pretty slim to say the least. As the current game requires an influx of power from the hardware it is running on for both performance and graphics, for it to run on the Switch is asking a lot since the hybrid console underperforms competing platforms.

But like with the mentioned titles before, the same was thought and expectations were exceeded from Panic Button’s port of both titles which is pretty impressive for how the Nintendo Switch holds up. Until the rumor is expanded upon from this recent founding, keep your hopes light on seeing Geralt’s story on Nintendo’s console.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is currently available for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.
