While the clock continues, fans awaited a new Saints Row game that was thought to never come. But by Gamescom 2021, Volition & THQ Nordic revealed a rebooted story was coming bringing the same hijinx to a new cast and setting for the franchise. While faithful to the storytelling in chaos & empire building, many fans were left unsatisfied with the approach for the new installment rather than the gang life which introduced the series.
Even after the delay of the game, it was said that the story would not be altered, Volition told then. From our review for the game: “Saints Row is worth looking at if you can deal with some buggy issues for a great time,” critic Rebecca wrote during the initial release for the game. Now this week, the first official add-on for Saints Row has arrived.
On Tuesday, Volition rolled out DLC ‘The Heist & The Hazardous’ adding three new missions, activities, and welcomed armaments to your arsenal. You can watch the launch trailer in the video below:
“The Heist and The Hazardous follows you, The Boss as you embark on a revenge heist against movie star Chris Hardy, an egotistical douchebag who thinks he can pay the Saints for their services in headshots. You just rolled snake eyes, Chris. The Saints are going to take everything you got, including your plush mansion,” the synopsis reads from the blog post.
Additionally, Volition has restructured somewhat since the release of Saints Row. While the game was critically met with average reception, the team’s publishing was changed from Plaion to Gearbox Entertainment. You can read the full report by heading here.
