Upon the arrival of holiday seasons throughout the year, developers as of recently have used the annual celebration to bring in themed updates to offer new content alongside a host of new experiences to breath a lungful of life into the game for returning players. This week, developer Rare revealed that a Halloween-like update will drop for Sea of Thieves which brings players to a grimmer region of the deep blue.
Announced through the Fort of the Damned content update, new items, cosmetics, and some story will be coming with the free client download. At Old Boot Fort, the dead have risen spawning a new fleet of roaming skeletons in the now ‘Fort of the Damned’. Players must band together to collect ritual skulls and exterminate the dark forces that have captured the isle.
This new undead takeover also introduces a new skeleton, the shadow skeleton. Players can only combat the skeletal hostile by matching the Ferry of the Damned’s flame to the skeleton. Pursuing your journey, you can speak with Duke who will provide helpful tips on taking on the shadowed enemies and the climaxing final battle for Old Boot Fort.
The update also debuts the Pirate Emporium which will distribute monthly exclusive items for players to purchase: i.e. skeletal pets which are only limited to October this month. Specialized cosmetics will also be making their way with this update via the Face of the Damned outfit which provides an entire decorated wardrobe for players who complete specific challenges for the new update.
Rare also revealed that the banjo will finally be coming to Sea of Thieves for a change of tune for the current lineup of instruments in the game. A new selection of clothes, duo sloops in the arena portion of the game, and more rampant skeleton captains have also been listed for the permanent additions of this update also.
