As for how far Sea of Thieves has reached in its three years since releasing, the game is fairly unidentical to what the state of the game was at launch. And plenty of that is to blame for the free updates for the game – and that’s a good thing! Following in a similar fashion to how Grand Theft Auto V Online was structured, developer Rare has went on to deliver monthly updates to breathe new life into the project from its original form.

Currently, Sea of Thieves has welcomed its fourth season of content to the ocean’s floor this past month. Previously, the game studio has went on to celebrate the number of players that set sail in its lobbies. Last July is where the team raised a glass to reaching 15 million players. Additionally, a similar toast was made for its 20 million player milestone later on in this past March.

This summer with the addition of ‘A Pirate’s Life’ free update, Rare also flagged its impressive concurrent player number which is a new record for Sea of Thieves. Now this week on Tuesday, Rare announces that it has now witnessed more than 25 million players enter the Sea of Thieves.

The pirate ranks of the Sea of Thieves continue to swell, as we’re happy to announce that we’ve reached the auspicious milestone of 25 million players! With the introduction of Seasons earlier this year, and our epic crossover with Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean in Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life, we’ve seen a huge influx of players casting off for the first time and enjoying all the new features and content. We’re going to need a bigger boat…

Other notable additions to Sea of Thieves goes on to include performance enhancements on the latest Xbox Series X. Shortly after the release of the system, Rare went on to share that new owners can drop into the game to find an improvement to the refresh rate. Namely, 120 frames per second support is now available to enjoy.
