While Rare’s Sea of Thieves proved to be a commercial success upon learning that more than 20 million users logged into the experience at the year’s start, it was not until this coming summer that we discovered how much influence the game received. Back in June, it was announced that the 2018 release will be receiving a crossover DLC with Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean – Sea of Thieves: A Pirates Life.

However, it wasn’t until the coming month where Rare shared more on the matter. In July is where the developer disclosed that the highest player turnout for Sea of Thieves was made. With that, more than a record breaking 4.8 million players signed in at the time to play Sea of Thieves. Additionally, the free add-on also welcomed Season 3 for the game as well then.

Earlier in September, Rare hinted at Season 4 for Sea of Thieves which takes the adventure below the surface of the sea to the depths hidden below: You can watch the teaser trailer in the video below:

Unlike previous updates for Sea of Thieves, Season 4 encourages players to explore the darkest parts of the waters for Siren Shrines. Upon discovering one of the underwater strongholds will introduce new coral-infested foes and the titular sirens as who will defend the loot hidden within. Of course, the new update also welcomes a slew of commendations and seasonal content for 100 levels.

Previously, Sea of Thieves decided to cross its path with Gearbox Software’s Borderlands in a update earlier in August. The event then dubbed ‘Mayhem’ included voyages that emphasized on the explosive nature of the looter-shooter series. You can read the full report by heading here.
