Second Extinction Slated For Early Access Release Sometime Next Month

Coming from an announced title that shared the stage with other ambitious properties during this May’s Xbox 20/20, developer Systemic Reaction unveiled Second Extinction. The title as is evidently presented offers a reiteration of dinosaur life on Earth as now these scaly specimens are now a dangerous predator to man in this new experience.

The announcement listed the game for both Xbox One alongside the approaching Xbox Series X with a presumptive PC version also on the way. However, no timeframe was spared at the time of reporting. But speaking with IGN, the firm discloses that the game will be entering Early Access on Steam sometime next month in September.

In addition to the pre-released version of Second Extinction, Systematic Reaction also disclosed the community-operated content campaign, ‘War Effort’.

The War Effort reflects the changes in the ongoing fight against the dinosaurs and ensures you’ll always have to stay on your toes. It’s a highly interactive, community-driven environment for players to fight in, letting us create new content that evolves over time. The War Effort is an integral part of how we’ll introduce new dinosaurs, missions, and more as a live service experience, and it’s a feature we’re excited to fully flesh out throughout early access.

The studio elaborates further on the game-meta by sharing that based on the threat level of certain dinosaurs and how players react to them will decide how the firm will tweak the gameplay. Additionally, the developer explains that the game will be adjusted each week to further progress the game in efforts to exit Early Access later on. This will directly reflect the console versions which are said to arrive at a later, undisclosed time.

Elsewhere this week, another Xbox 20/20 showcased title also resurfaced, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. Developer Harduit Labs told that the upcoming sequel has faced some unexpected technicalities and will be pushing the game’s release into 2021. You can read the full report by heading here.
