Fans of Japanese publisher Sega should already recognize the significance of 2020: this year marks the 60th anniversary for the firm. Already, the company has announced to be celebrating the birthday of Sega with new products. Back in June, the firm shared to be launching a new iteration of the classic Sega Game Gear – the Sega Game Gear Micro.
Similar to the titular device of before, this new micro version of the handheld is as you would presume from the titling – it’s immensely smaller. Of course, these will also come with titles pre-loaded on each of them. With four color variants to choose from, each offers a unique roster of titles to play from Sega’s notable repertoire of properties.
With the device shipping earlier this month in Japan, many question what other regions will receive to help celebrate. In a new announcement in collaboration with Empty Clip Studios, the pair unveils Streets of Rage x Yakuza experience Streets of Kamurocho. You can watch the reveal trailer in the video below:
“In celebration of SEGA’s 60th Anniversary, SEGA mashed Streets of Rage 2 with the ever-popular Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s Yakuza series, and Streets of Kamurocho was born,” the description reads from the game’s Steam page. “Play as two of the most loved characters – Kiryu and Majima – to brawl your way through Kamurocho.”
One unique thing about this new title is it that fans can only install the game for a limited time before it is gone forever. The title will be going live on October 17 and to stay up for install until October 19 the coming Monday. Thankfully, the game will be free to pickup in the short release window. Streets of Kamurocho is just one of four titles being offered from Sega: Endless Zone, Armor of Tanks, and Golden Axed.
In other related Yakuza news, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio shared that Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon will be arriving to PlayStation 5 in March. Although the game is hitting other platforms next month, the next-generation console has to wait until then. You can read the full report by heading here.
