SEGA has continued to dominate the video game industry after a huge year with Metaphor: ReFantazio, Persona 3: Reload, and Sonic X Shadow Generations being the most notable games in 2024 from the publisher. They also topped the year off with the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 which is off to a hot start at the box office.

Now, it seems SEGA is considering launching its own Netflix-like subscription service for video games. We already see similar services for video games such as Xbox Game Pass, EA Play, and PlayStation Plus where players pay a monthly fee to access a set amount of games per month.

SEGA’s president Shuji Utsumi mentioned to the BBC that the subscription products were “very interesting”. “We’re thinking something – and discussing something – we cannot disclose right now,” Utsumi said.

This news is interesting as SEGA recently delisted several of its classic games from store listings such as Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, and the Nintendo eShop.
