Fans of Shadow of the Colossus eagerly waited for the sequel to the 2005 cult classic title. The Last Guardian coming out eleven years after and the patient fans were left underwhelmed from the game they’ve been waiting for. Though it was a decent title overall, it didn’t meet the expectations that many had originally. Now developer Fumito Ueda is working on their next project and there’s hope to see greatness from the Japanese Studio.

In an interview with Famitsu, Ueda revealed that him along with genDesign, his new studio is working on a new title that will compete when it comes to scale compared to previous games. Ueda in the interview with the Japanese outlet:

“We’re in a stage of various trials. This stage we’re in, where we’re actually making our ideas to test if they’re interesting or not” Ueda told Famitsu. “We’re working out the core parts first, and from there we’ll make it into a stable product.”

Ueda continued on the new project stating that the new title isn’t small like an indie. That the studio is aiming more towards what Ueda created in previous years. Following that it the large-scale suit the developer, they will change the development process of the game.

Studio genDesign posted an image on their website that is a possible tease towards the mentioned project.

For when we might expect to see anything on the unannounced is going to be a while. As there’s only one image, an we don’t even know if it’s related to the game, we only have the comment Ueda mad in the interview as of right now. It’s best to assume we might not see anything from the studio until possibly in the next generation of consoles as the game is still in early stages of development.

The latest title from Ueda was a remake of Shadow of the Colossus which released back in February of this year and is available only on PlayStation 4.
