It was only announced in the last 24 hours that former Volition developers have formed a new studio named, Shapeshifter Games. The next day, Xbox Game Studio, inXile Entertainment announced that they’ve partnered with the new studio for Clockwork Revolution.

Shapeshifter Games will be assisting with the development of the great new IP which is Clockwork Revolution. It seems that both studio heads have some experience together as Chris Keenan of inXile says he has a special place in his heart for the Volition team and history.

 “One of the first games I tested in my career was Descent, so I have a special place in my heart for the Parallax/Volition team and history. First priority was ensuring these folks had a place to land on Clockwork Revolution, and we’re thankful we were able to get it done so quickly. Bringing in new development partners can be challenging, but this was a rare partnership that felt right from the beginning.”

Shapeshifter Games Studio Head, Matt Madigan says they are truly grateful to inXile and Microsoft for the opportunity to co-develop Clockwork Revolution.

“The talented and experienced team that joined Shapeshifter has hit the ground running. We’ve had a lot of support from former Volitionites, and are truly grateful to inXile and Microsoft for the opportunity to assist with the development of a great new IP.”

What Is Clockwork Revolution?

Clockwork Revolution is a time-bending steampunk action RPG launching as a console exclusive on Xbox Series XlS and it will be released on PC. A release date has not been shared yet.
