During an interview with the Telegraph, PlayStation executive Shawn Layden talked about how Sony is big on story games. Here is what he said “My philosophy is to play my strengths, and if you look at the studios we have – Naughty Dog, Guerrilla, Santa Monica Studio, Japan Studio – that’s what we do well. We do story. We create characters.” He also said “ Those are the kind of things we do well. it’s what we’re known for. it really speaks to our entertainment DNA. We wish to entertain. We wish to make you happy. We wish to make you cry. That whole range of emotions we can pluck at to make you have a great experience. We’re big on character. We ‘re big on story.
While Sony is known for its amazing story games, it also does other types as well, such as Gran Turismo and Knack and more. Shawn Layden is 100% right though, the story is what Sony does best, you just have to look at Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted and the upcoming God of War and Days Gone which also look to be big on story.
A lot of games are moving to online only or service based, so I’m glad Sony is sticking to story games.
